"...or yardly lurking?"

The moniker tradition originates from migratory workers in the United States from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. They created a hobo code, symbols conveying crucial information about local conditions. As it evolved, hobos began leaving personal marks, or monikers, akin to modern graffiti tags. Though the hobo lifestyle has declined, monikers persist and influence contemporary graffiti culture globally.

This collection of monikers was collected from 2023 and 2024 in East Vancouver. Presented in chronological order according to the dates accompanying each image.
